Activator-fully control your jailbroken iDevice

February 25, 2012
You probably love your iDevice, but how about getting full control over the device, having the ability to choose what to do with each button on your device.
Activator, a tweak most of you should have heard of, allows you to take full control of your iPhone. It is automatically downloaded when you download famous tweaks such as SBSettings, lockinfo, etc.
The tweak could be configured in the settings app or in the homescreen.
Here is a screenshot of how you can perform the actions:

Traffic rush- game for your iDevice

February 25, 2012
iPhone games are becoming way too great. Very recently GTA 3 was released for the newer iDevices. But sometimes I'd like to play mini games.
Traffic rush is the game I was after. You might have heard this game before because of its popularity. Whether or not you've heard of this game, I hope this post will help you know more about it.
Traffic rush is a game with a camera fixed in a bird-eye position. Your job is to move the cars to the other side of the road to get a point.

EMD PTE-Free periodic table for your iDevice

February 21, 2012
Science is the key of life. Ok let's not go that way :P There may be times when you need access to a periodic table when only your iDevice is nearby.
EMD PTE is the solution. With this app you can access a periodic table on your iDevice. Moreover, this app does not just let you see the elements but also gives you information of the app such as who discovered it, when it was discovered and pictures of the element.
In my opinion the app has a good UI and is really helpful. The app is free and available for all iDevices. Below are a few screenshots of the app.

February 19, 2012
YES!! The day has finally come. Siri, the top feature in the iPhone 4S is now available for all iOS devices. Now even iPhone 2G owners can enjoy a siri like experience.

Sara is a free Siri alternative available for all iOS devices. Here is how to install Sara:

1-Make sure you have a jailbroken iPhone, if not read this guide.
2-Launch Cydia
3-Add this source http://isoftjsc.com
4-Download all the three packages
5-Your iOS device will restart springboard after the download has completed
6-Launch Sara!

Warning the server for Sara is currently overloaded, however I just downloaded it and it works fine.

Pros:

  • Works on all iOS devices
  • Free
  • Has a lot of replies ( I expected it to lack answers but it turned out to have amazing replies )
  • Good UI
  • Adds in the speak-to-type icon in the keyboard just like in iOS 5
Cons:
  • Slow at starting up
  • Long thinking time
In conclusion, if your device does not support Siri, I strongly recommend you to give this app a go. Do you like this app? What do you think of it? Leave your opinion as a comment.

Difference between cellular data and 3G

February 9, 2012
I often hear that many people are not aware of the difference between cellular data and 3G. Hopefully this post will clear all your doubts if you have any. If it doesn't then leave your question as a comment and I will be happy to help.

Cellular data:

Cellular data is simply mobile internet. If your cellular data is switched off you can not access the internet except if connected to wifi. So if you want to access the internet you will need to have your cellular data switched on or connect to wifi. However, cellular data could drain your credit especially if you are not subscribed to a cellular data network plan.

3G

3G is doubling the speed of your internet but decreasing your battery life. You can not access the internet if only your 3G is on but cellular data is off except obviously over wifi. To be honest accessing internet without 3G on is really slow except for instant messaging apps. Disabling 3G will help save your battery life.

That is all I have got to say about cellular data and 3G. Is there anything you would like to say? Leave a comment and let us know.

Hands On: Kindle Fire and iPad 2

February 6, 2012
This is a guest post kind-fully written by Melonie McLaurin (more info at the bottom of the post). Credits go to her. If you would like to write us a guest post please click here.

Now that some time has passed since Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet was released into the wild, I’ve had a while to compare it extensively with the iPad 2, and enough time to get past the “ooh” and “ahh” stage of infatuation with the former that I can make an unbiased evaluation. Here’s my background with each device.
