Awesome free remote PC/Mac app on your smart phone

July 30, 2012
A logo of the TeamViewer applicationHaving full control of your PC/Mac from your iPhone/Android Phone is something useful and fun. For ages I have seen remote pc apps that are available on a smart phone and allow me to access my computer. Today I found one of these amazing apps. The special thing about this app is not only does it offer features like the ones you will find in most remote pc applications that cost $9.99, but that this app is free! No trial version, nothing like that. The only time you would pay is if you want to use this app for commercial-use. If you want it for private use then the app is free. The owners of the app trust your honesty on buying a license from their website. So what's the app called?

July 30, 2012

It seems like September will be our lucky month! News from iMore have spread so rapidly amongst blogs claiming that the iPhone 5 will be announced on September 21. According to iMore, “the information comes from sources who have proven accurate in the past.” iMore further claims that the iPad Mini as well as an iPod nano and perhaps an iPod touch. The news are spreading really quick. It seems like Apple will go back to their 12-month iPhone cycle rather than the 18 months it took to announce the iPhone 4S. We were even able to get a few images of what could be and might be the iPhone 5. The prototype used in the images below is based on leaked parts. This is what it looks like.

Share pictures using sound Chirp!

July 29, 2012

images-3Yep that’s right! You can share photos with your family and friends via sound. The app is called Chirp, and it takes sharing to a whole new level. It does this by uploading data to its cloud and sending it to your friends in very little time (further explanation after the break). The app is really easy to use. Just press a yellow button and your iPhone will chirp for two seconds. The sound produced by your iPhone is almost unique and will therefore make the app function well even in noisy environments! So how does the sharing work? Some users are afraid that this app could expose their privacy. The app is pretty much impractical but it’s one of these just for fun awesome apps. More details about this app with the download link after the break.

Run android apps on your pc

July 28, 2012
bluestacks logo Android may be regarded as a leading OS since there were two times as much Android phones as iPhones sold in the last quarter, not really fair considering there are a lot more Android phones. After testing it for a while I found some unique features that made this app great. Read on to know more about this!

Google updates Google Maps for iOS featuring 3D and tours

July 27, 2012
Google have promised that they will stay in the game when it comes to Maps in iOS. This has been proved to be true as Google updated their Google Earth app which is available on the App Store. It seems like Google are really going for it to fight back one of iOS 6's most outstanding features. It's weird how Google keeps fighting back with Apple on iOS 6 by releasing the best apps they can do for iOS which function similarly to that of Android. I would have expected Google to limit the functionality offered in their wide range of iOS apps while offering full functionality on Android devices. This way users could be a lot more persuaded to switch. Anyway let's stick to the Maps app. Below are the release notes for Google's Maps app on iOS:

Amazon could be launching a 10-inch tablet

July 26, 2012
Amazon is set to be launching a 10-inch tablet to go along with its 7-inch successful Kindle FireBased on declarations by Staples’ President of U.S. Retail, the launch of a 10-inch tablet wouldn't be surprising. It's ironic to think that Apple are rumored to be making an iPad Mini while Amazon are making a larger tablet! The launch of a tablet my Amazon would defenitely rank it higher and higher amongst competing tablets. I see that Amazon have a great future lying ahead of them. With the world's most selling e-book reader and a Smart Phone coming out soon too!

OS X Mountain Lion to be launching tomorrow 25 July

July 25, 2012
Depending on where and when you view this post, this may mean today to you. Just wanted to let you guys know that OS X Mountain Lion is launching on July 25. Here is what Tim Cooks (CEO of Apple) said about the launch:
"We’re thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We’ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we’ve got in the pipeline.”
Good news right? But what he said and was quoted above isn't just talking about the Mac OS X launch, he is also hinting and perhaps confirming that an iPhone 5 and perhaps an iPod Touch 5 are making their way soon. With that said, when are you expecting the release of the iPhone 5?

Testing out Microsoft office 2013

July 24, 2012

Testing Microsoft Office 365 or also known as Microsoft Office 2013. There is a bit of a difference though in the menus. For example the bar at the bottom now looks a lot nicer. On the other hand I don’t like the lack of contrast in the top bar which is plain white just like the paper I’m typing on and the wrapper around it. However, this could probably get themed with ease.

Which US carriers will charge for Facetime?

July 19, 2012
It seems like Facetime will not be a definite free app to use. When I talk about paying for Facetime I mean extra charges if you would like to use the service over cellular data which is a new feature in iOS 6. It now seems like some carriers will be planning to charge over Wi-Fi starting with AT&T. And once it starts with the US it will probably be expanding to a variety of carriers internationally. So which carriers will be charging and which wouldn't? AT&T CEO says it's too early to talk about this while Sprint confirm they won't be charging extra for Facetime over cellular. Perhaps a move by Sprint to catch up with AT&T and Verizon in iPhone's. On the other hand Verizon gave no confirmation either. The main reason AT&T would be charging for this could be because of what happened to them due to iMessage. Below is what Randall Steven (CEO of AT&T) says about iMessage followed by exactly what other carriers stated.

iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4 get new features in iOS 6 beta 3

July 18, 2012
When Apple released iOS 6 beta iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4 received minimal features of the new iOS. It was enough of a surprise that iPhone 3GS received the upgrade in the first place. However what was not expected is that iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4 receive more features than promised! Both devices got features that make them almost as good as the iPhone 4 in terms of features. Below is a table I made to help you visualize the comparisons.

Apple working on fixing the in-app purchase issue

July 15, 2012
A number of blogs and websites have reported about the Russian hacker that found a way to get free in app purchases on iOS without a jailbreak. I personally refused to post about this as I did not want to spread a method that could lead developers into losing money. Now Apple is fixing this issue. This is what we have heard from Apple:
“The security of the App Store is incredibly important to us and the developer community,” Apple representative Natalie Harrison, told The Loop. “We take reports of fraudulent activity very seriously and we are investigating.”

The problem is becoming really big. A couple of weeks ago it has been reported that a glitch in the App Store caused many apps to fail to launch. And now free in app purchases are cracked. What else is there? According to the next web 30,000 illegal in app purchases have happened using the Russian's hack.

Apple could be announcing a mini iPad in October!

July 2, 2012
So the rumours have come back again. Apple's mini iPad has been a topic for many tablet fans since last April just before the launch of the new iPad. Now the rumours are back claiming that Apple will announce a mini iPad this October! So this should be coming out alongside a newer iPhone and perhaps even an iPod touch. But just think about this. Apple didn't give the iPod touch 3rd generation the upgrade to iOS 6 while it gave the upgrade to iPhone 3Gs which is also the 3rd generation. So Apple could be gradually taking out the iPod touch to help it with the mini iPad which will be priced slightly higher than the iPod touch. Furthermore, Apple has not released an iPod touch in ages so they could actually be ending it soon prior to the launch of the mini iPad.
