The hacker posted the news on Reddit yesterday night,
Yeah, I'm not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now.The jailbreak will be available to all devices running iOS 6.1. So you don't need to worry about that either. Additionally, the jailbreak will be untethered for all devices too.
Planetbeing then explained why he is not releasing the jailbreak to the public right now,
The reasons it's not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future, 2. iOS 6.1 is coming very soon and will likely break a small part of it anyway, there's no point in sacrificing the many bugs it won't break. In other words, he finds it more appropriate to release the jailbreak when iOS 6.1 is released rather than release it now and have it patched by Apple. This 'having-to-wait' scenario happens quite occasionally when it comes jailbreaking, and we just have to follow the routine.
Now I'm thinking whether or not I'll want to jailbreak my iPhone 5 when the jailbreak is out. I don't want to slow it down but on the other hand I want to customize it with cool tweaks. Will you jailbreak your iPhone when the jailbreak is released?
