Control who sees your status on Facebook

By: Unknown, June 2, 2012

So with all the talks about privacy in social networks, this is a privacy-related tip that I'd like to share with you. Facebook give you the option to control who can see your status, e.g. friends of friends, or even who can not see your status. Here is a step-by-step tutorial with images on how to do this.

1. Type in your status.

2. Click near the bottom right of the status area to the left of the word post. This should say "Friends" by default. You will get this drop down list of options:

3. Click on "Custom"

4. This popup will appear:

This is the important bit. You can choose who to make your status/post visible to, or who to hide it from. If you have got a friend whom you would not like to see your status update, start typing their name in the bottom section of the popup and you will be able to click on their name.

I hope you found this useful, but watch out, if you want to keep your status update hidden from a certain friend, then another friend could tell them about it. So use this tip with care.

If you need a bit of more help with this I can help you out. Just post your problem as a comment and I'll help you as soon as possible.
