How to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 6 the right way

By: Unknown, February 4, 2013
The anticipated jailbreak for iOS 6 has just been released. While the actual jailbreaking process is usually safe and bug-free, things can always go wrong. And that's why I'm writing this article, not just how to jailbreak your iOS device, but also how to jailbreak it the right way.

The actual jailbreaking process should take roughly 5 minutes according to the team, however there are steps you should take before the jailbreak to ensure it will work properly and without bugs. The steps are explained by PlanetBeing, one of the big people behind the jailbreak, on Reddit. Read on for essential steps for the jailbreak.
First, if you're running iOS 6.1 it is recommended that you've updated from iTunes and not from the actual iOS device OTA. If you already updated your device OTA then you may want to:

  1. Backup your iOS device with iTunes
  2. Restore your device with iTunes
  3. Restore your iOS device from the backup
If you're on iOS 6.1 the proper way or if you're on an earlier version of iOS 6 then follow the step-by-step guide below:

  1.  Make up a backup with iTunes.
  2. Restore the device with iTunes.
  3. Select “Set up as new device” on the device itself during the setup process after the device is restored. Do not select “Set up as new iPhone” or “Restore from this backup” on iTunes yet.
  4. Jailbreak your device.
  5. Open up Cydia for the first time to allow it to “prepare the filesystem”. Wait for the respring to happen.
  6. Start iTunes again and select “Restore from this backup” to get everything back on there.
The steps are there to ensure that no bugs take place and is recommended by most experts. I'll personally stick to this method to avoid any problems during jailbreaking.

If you don't want to follow these steps at least make sure that you backup your device with iTunes. This is a really essential step in case something goes wrong.

If you don't really know why you should jailbreak then watch this video here. If you're scared of the jailbreak because of your warranty then you can always revert it.

Now to jailbreak your iPhone visit and download the appropriate files. The steps are easy to pick up from there.
